We parents have the great custom of planning and plotting the future in detail for our children. We were able to imagine there in front of what it will be like at school, with friends, at work and even at college, but within this planning we never imagined the problems that may arise in this journey. In the first year, the literacy series has already noticed a certain difficulty in learning and something different from other children is pointed out by the teacher. Many due to lack of preparation may consider you a lazy child or without interest in studying, but did you know that these are some of the signs of dyslexia?
When a father and mother hear that their child may be dyslexic they may panic, also due to the lack of information. But dyslexia is not a disease, much less the end of the world , the alpha point is to be discovered in order to provide adequate monitoring and the ideal help for the child to develop. Dyslexia is considered a genetic and neurobiological disorder that affects the direct functions of language learning.
Children with dyslexia have a hard time learning to read, spell and read small words. What at first may seem like the child’s unwillingness and laziness are actually flaws in brain connections that make it difficult to associate the graphic symbols with the letters and the sound they make to be pronounced, which results in disorganized and totally nonsensical reading . Simple words become a real confusion as, for example, the word grandpa in the reading of a dyslexic can become ovov.
The confusion at the time of reading also worsens with words that have a similar spelling as qep, peb, bedene u. Another very common symptom of dyslexics is to follow the reading with your finger to try not to get lost even more. Problems that reflect on school performance, failing to keep up with the rest of the class , having greater difficulty in performing tasks and in most cases becoming a joke among colleagues and being a victim of bullying. That is why the diagnosis when the first signs are noticed makes all the difference in the life of a child with dyslexia. Much bigger problems can be avoided with proper monitoring.
It is worth noting that dyslexia has nothing to do with the lack of intelligence, on the contrary great names and important personalities in history were carriers of the problem such as Pablo Picasso, George Washington, Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci and also Thomas Edison.
What Causes Dyslexia and What is the Appropriate Treatment?
Dyslexia does not have a specific cause, but researchers point to it as a family inheritance or hereditary problem. Not necessarily that parents have dyslexia, but for those who have family members with some type of phonological problem. For children of dyslexics, the chances of their children having the same problem are very high , around 60% and as they have a much higher genetic risk, they can undergo genetic tests and start early treatments and programs in order to reduce the child’s difficulties when reach school age.
Adequate treatment will be indicated after analyzing the child’s condition and all possibilities discarded. The child’s development as well as a physical analysis in order to find hearing problems or problems in vision will be carried out and analyzed to find the reason for the child’s difficulties. The diagnosis is not made only by a doctor, but by a team made up of a pediatrician, psychologist, psychologist, speech therapist and neurologist who will discard all problems until reaching the exact diagnosis.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for dyslexia, but the treatment offers great improvements and helps in the development of the dyslexic child. With the help of the specialists, it is possible to notice great differences in the child’s educational development and of course counting on the help and patience of the parents. Children with proper treatment and follow-up are able to overcome their limits and have a normal life like any other child.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.
Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
