When is the Exam done?
It can be done from the 11th week to the 13th week , but it is usually done on the 12th week where doctors think it can be more effective to identify significant changes. The examination consists of measuring the fetal nuchal fold (skin on the nape of the neck) and the presence of nasal bone.
Exam Result
The normality parameter of the exam is determined by each laboratory where the exam is performed, but there is a limit for it to be considered normal, or risk zone. The limit considered normal is 2.5 mm, above that it is a risk zone.

Other Important Exams in Pregnancy
The amniocentesis test consists of removing a small amount of liquid from the amniotic bag so that a fetal karyotype test (checking chromosome numbers) is done.
