In the interview of the week, it is a pleasure to receive Fabiana Futema . Journalist at Folha de SP who writes for the blog Maternar together with also journalist Giovanna Balogh. Fabiana in addition to the super successful career has a special accomplishment, she is Kazuo’s mom, a cute almost 2 years old and that completely changed Fabiana’s life. Do you want to know a little more about her? so follow the interview.
Come on?
Changing Diapers: Fabiana, talk a little more about you, your life and your children.
Fabiana: This question can have a huge answer. I’m 41, I was a mother at 40 and I prioritized the professional side a lot before. I think that’s why it took me so long to be a mother. And also because my husband was not a big fan of the idea of having that great responsibility in life. But Kazuo was born and changed our lives. He is 1 year and 10 months old. I did Casper, lived alone, was engaged and tough. When I broke off my engagement and lost my job at the same time, I moved back in with my parents in the interior of São Paulo. There I decided to go to Japan to earn some money to go back and finish journalism college. And so it was: I came back, graduated, worked at Notícias Populares and Diário Popular. I visited Gazeta Mercantil before coming to Folha’s website in 2000. My areas of activity were economics and politics, but today I am on the website’s homepage edition.
Changing Diapers: Was the positive moment planned? How was it to receive the news that it would be mommy?
Fabiana: It wasn’t planned. I tried to get pregnant and I couldn’t. My doctor asked for tests to assess my chances of fertility and I didn’t have time to do them because I got pregnant.
Changing Diapers: Breastfeeding is a unique moment in a woman’s life. How was that moment for you, did you have any difficulties? Did you breastfeed exclusively or did you have to supplement?
Fabiana: I had a hard time breastfeeding. I called a consultant, went to specialists, but I didn’t know how to make my son get his chest right. Most of the time he drank breast milk from a breast pump. And yes, I had to supplement with Artificial Milk.
Changing Diapers: What is your opinion about breastfeeding with artificial formulas?
It is not ideal, but mothers who use this method should not be condemned. If it were easy, there wouldn’t be so much breastfeeding advice today
Changing Diapers: How was your delivery? What criteria did you choose and what importance did it have on recovery. (whether humanized delivery, normal delivery or cesarean section)
Fabiana: My pregnancy was complicated, I spent the last months at home resting to avoid premature birth. Due to my medical history, an obstetrician found it difficult to try natural childbirth. My purse burst, but I didn’t have any dilation.
Changing Diapers: How did Maternal Care come about in your life?
Fabiana: I proposed a blog about motherhood and Giovanna too. One didn’t know about the other, but because we worked together, they thought it was cool that the blog was written by 2 different mother profiles. And I think it has worked well. I admire Giovanna a lot.
Fabiana, thank you very, very much! it is always good to know a little more about who we follow, admire as a professional and it is a pleasure to have you here at Changing Diapers!
The Maternal blog is available within Folha de SP online, always with fun, serious content and relevant to the maternal universe.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.
Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
