Siamese Brothers – The Most Impressive Cases

Index

Who has never heard of Siamese brothers? And how can you not be curious about how they live and why they were born that way? There are many surprising cases all over the world, where babies connected by different parts of the body are born and exceed the chances of survival. Many were the cases that managed to reach adulthood and much more, to have a dignified life like any other citizen, of course with their limitations.

Conjoined brothers or twins, as they are also called, are identical twins that are born glued to some part of the body due to an abnormality during the process of cell division at the time of embryo formation. The junction between them can occur at the head, buttocks, ribs, arms and legs. In each case there are its particularities even in the division of vital organs, where in some a single body with two heads divides all organs or in other cases where a single body has two hearts, kidneys, separate digestive systems or two bodies fully formed with organs unique and separated joined by a body part.

In ancient times it was very common for Siamese brothers to live together until the end of their lives, also due to the lack of resources in medicine and the great risks that were taken. Nowadays medicine is advancing more and more, it is possible to offer treatments and resources, in addition to more complex tests that analyze any risk even before carrying out the separation procedure, discarding hypotheses and thus guaranteeing more chances of life for both.

In the past, what was common in families where Siamese brothers were born was to take advantage of the situation and earn fame and money with the “freak” as they were known. Placed within a circus show, children were forced to roam the world as if they were animals or objects of human curiosity. Currently, the parents of Siamese twins are increasingly struggling to provide a common life for their children who can live as a normal citizen and with their rights.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.

Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
