Newborn Bath – Unforgettable Moment

Index

The other day I was trying to remember what it was like to give the newborn’s first bath in Joana, I was very young and I never thought I would be able to do such a feat right away. I was 21 years old when she was born and I am the youngest daughter, I had no nephews and I also never had direct contact with newborns, much less had I bathed the newborn once in my life, in other words, in short, experience with a newborn child almost zero.

Lucky for me to have a super experienced mother with the newborn’s bath, she was always required to care for newborns and always, since I was very young I remember her stories about the many babies she took care of, the navels she healed and all the thousands of baths the newborn gave her and all this during her childhood! Yes, she always did that, and since she was 7 years old she took care of and bathed the babies born to her neighbors, her cousins, godmothers and even her younger siblings when she was born because she always had a way with things. But then who doesn’t have a super close mom like me?

I was still scared, but I wanted to bathe my daughter, and guided by the supermom that I am lucky to have, everything went well. At first babies seem so fragile that many people are afraid to take them, bathe them, change them… but if you are about to live this moment don’t panic!I know a story about a girl who had her baby and she and her mother-in-law didn’t have the courage to turn the baby over for a month in the bath! Lol, yes, they only bathed the baby’s front, because they were too afraid to let it fall if they tried to turn it over in the bath to wash the ribs. But do not think that this case is unique, until you get the hang of it with the newborn’s bath, especially dads and first-time moms, they are very afraid of the new one and rest assured that it is more than normal, I know that because I passed and believe it, we learn.

How then do you give the newborn a bath?

Although today in the maternity ward I have the opportunity to learn, everything seems to be easier when we are there and at home it can become a little tense the moment. But try to make this a pleasant moment for you and your baby as he may cry for N reasons, be it cold, fear of falling etc. Then see the steps for a newborn bath:

1- Separate all the material that will be used in the bath, soaps, cotton buds, cotton, towel, diapers, anti-rash ointment and baby’s clothes.

2- The bath water must be around 37 degrees, this is where the baby feels comfortable and remember, never put the hot water in the bathtub without having a little cold water already, avoid accidents and cause burns on the baby for distraction.

3-  Always wash the baby’s head first! Prevent residues from falling into the eyes and ear to avoid irritation or infection.

4- Try to use liquid soaps, they make it easier and much more at the time H and nowadays there are neutral soaps that can be used from head to toe making mom’s life much easier.

5-  Tall bathtubs are very good at the beginning of childbirth, but be careful as the baby grows.

6- Always leave everything at hand so you don’t have to leave the baby.

7- Holding firmly is essential, hold with one hand behind the back and under the baby’s armpit to be safe.

Do everything according to your instinct, in maternity they teach in a way and it may be that your mother, mother-in-law or aunt starts to guess and confuse you, so do it according to what you think is correct. In the end everything works out and be happy, this moment is unique and you will surely miss it.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.

Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
