That the practice of sports is something very healthy and does a lot of damage to the body and head, no one has any doubt. But deciding which one is best for your child and which best fits your lifestyle and taste is a complicated task. There is a great diversity of sports for children and to choose the ideal goes beyond the child’s taste and need. There are the quiet ones that can be performed by almost all children and those that require more physical effort and need to undergo an assessment beforehand.

The demand for sports for children has fortunately increased, thanks to conscientious parents who recognize the true importance of physical activities in their children’s lives. Obviously, parents want to see their children champions of the sport they chose to practice, but they also aim for the health and well-being of the little ones. But like everything in a child’s life, everything has to be done in a balanced way, without excesses so that it doesn’t harm other areas of the child’s life.

Sport brings beneficial action not only for health, but also for the child’s physical, motor and mental development. Making it clear, that the sport practiced must start from the child’s own desire to perform and not be forced and imposed by the parents’ desire and choices, in many cases being the target of exchanges and threats for the accomplishment. Thus, the healthy goal ends up being contradicted, which will cease to be something good and pleasurable because it is something forced on the child’s life. Sport for children should be chosen according to the child’s age groupand what benefits it will bring to the momentary development. The sport acts as a motivator of movements and physical improvements, where the child runs, jumps, climbs, descends, crawls and makes several movements that why not fun ?? When the child likes the sport he practices, he sees it as a fun and enjoyable game.

Sports Options for Kids

One of the sports for children most chosen and desired by the little ones, is swimming. Through contact with water, children develop, learn and improve in a delicious way in each new class and always with great interest. During classes , motor coordination , discipline, body resistance and best of all, in a fun way, are improved. Remembering that like any sport, there are limits to practice and should not exceed more than 3 hours of daily physical exercises . Swimming is a recommended sport even for children who suffer from respiratory problems such as bronchitis and asthma and can be started in the first months of life.

Other sports for children well sought after, including by the will of the little ones, mainly by boys, is the practice of martial fights. Some schools offer these types of classes in their class schedule which further increase the desire for sport. The practice of judo, Tae-Kwon-Do, Aikido, capoeira, Muay Thai and Tai Chi Chuan are some of the options that exist in academies and schools, which provide the improvement of discipline, self-control, character formation and discipline of mind , in addition to obviously being mindful of the body and mind actively. For dads who aim to fight martial arts as an aggressive sport, look for a specialized gym and attend a class, you will be surprised and see the sport with different eyes, for sure.

There are also more conventional sports that children play even on the street, in condominiums and at school with their own friends, including taking part in physical education classes at schools. Football, handball and volleyball are fun sports that should be performed in groups, which increases self-esteem, contact with others and acts positively in physical effort working the whole body and mind. Of course, there are children who do not adapt and do not like sports like these, which involve intense physical effort and sharing with other children. Therefore, the style of each child must be analyzed and which sport would fit best.

For more restless and nervous children who have problems with concentration or perfectionists who do not deal with losses or have problems with self-control, opt for individual sports, such as swimming, martial arts, tennis and perhaps sports gymnastics. For agile children, any sport they propose to do will be successful. Especially those who have to run and physical effort are necessary for the success of the sport. But before enrolling your child or starting physical activities, talk to your trusted pediatrician and see if the sport you choose fits your child’s lifestyle and health . Some health problems end up restricting the practice of some physical activities, so it is good to be sure that you will not have problems later.
