Women who suffer from depression during pregnancy in the second trimester end up spending more time sitting and without wasting energy. This behavior results in greater chances for the pregnant woman to suffer from gestational diabetes and to have a very large weight gain.
Studies carried out in pregnant women where it was found that physical inactivity totally negatively affects women’s health . Just as a great deal of physical effort is also not recommended. There is a general consensus that determines that physical activities performed without excess during pregnancy have a positive impact on the life and health of the pregnant woman. Sedentary lifestyle poses risks to the life of every human being, whether at any stage of their life. The lack of physical activities implies serious health problems in addition to great weight gain and its complications.
These long periods without activity result in problems such as obesity, diabetes , heart disease, problems in mental and physical health such as pain in the knees and joints.
Older studies point out that the sedentary style of the human being has negative effects on metabolism, on vascular health, on bone mineral content as well as on the increase of blood triglyceride levels. This is compared to the people of older times where they practice their work in a more manual way, such as in agriculture and using transport that burned more energy like the bicycle, unlike the current jobs where we sat at tables in front of computers and no physical activity are exercised.
The risks presented during the gestational phase due to a sedentary lifestyle were conducted by Nythia Sukumar at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom and presented at the annual conference on endocrinology. Where 1,263 pregnant women were followed from the first trimester to the end of the pregnancy, answering questionnaires regarding their physical activities during this period. After analyzing their BMI, age and economic position, the results were clear, pointing to sedentary women as the main depression patients and their health recurrences , in addition to suffering from high weight gain. So physical activity and exercise in pregnancy it is recommended to reduce the risks of gestational diabetes and other health problems that can pose greater risks to the life of the mother and baby.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.
Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
