Pimples in Pregnancy – What to Do?

In pregnancy we already have to deal with several changes in our body such as weight gain, swelling, changing hair and sometimes pimples that insist on appearing, even though we have never suffered from acne problems.

Why Do These Changes Occur?

These changes happen due to the increase in progesterone in the woman’s body, and in the case of pimples in pregnancy they tend to appear more on the face, neck and back because they are more oily and because it is an area where there are more sebaceous glands.

Some cares

The ideal is to maintain some precautions to prevent the oil from increasing even more, such as:

  • Always keep your skin clean and preferably use neutral soap
  • Use moisturizers without oils
  • Removing makeup before bed

During pregnancy, ointments, soaps and pimple medications should not be used without a doctor’s prescription , as many contain substances that can be harmful to the baby, preferably use natural and skin cleansing control tips, this will help to keep the pimples controlled, as this will make it easier for the skin pores not to become clogged.

Another indication for pregnant women is to use sunscreen during pregnancy, because during pregnancy the rates of skin spots increase considerably due to the increase in melanin  in the body. Today there are some makeup options with sunscreen that can be used normally by pregnant women.

Homemade Tips for Pimples in Pregnancy

As pregnant women do not have so many options of medicines and soaps to relieve the discomfort of pimples during pregnancy, we look for some natural tips that can help:

Carrot Juice

Carrot juice is indicated for being rich in vitamin A, which helps to control the oiliness of the skin. It is recommended that the pregnant woman drink 1 glass a day.

How to do it: Peel 1 large carrot and beat in the processor / blender, add 1 glass of water and beat. Carrot juice can be whipped together with the juice of an orange.

Rice water mask

Old recipe that can be used at any stage of life, especially during pregnancy because it is a natural tip. The ideal is to wash your face twice a day with rice water, this will help keep your face less oily.

How to do it: Soak 1 cup of rice in 1 liter of water for at least 24 hours

Mask of rice with honey

This mask is ideal to be done before bed and removed after 20 minutes with plenty of water. It is ideal for controlling pimples and blemishes, especially during pregnancy.

How to do it: Cook 2 tablespoons of rice with water only, cook until “soaking”, after boiling and cold add 1 tablespoon of honey and stir until it becomes a pasty cream. It can be applied to the face, neck and back.

If the enlargement of the pimples is great to cause discomfort, it is recommended to seek a dermatologist who will indicate the ideal treatment. Remembering that, it is only a phase that will last a few months and will end with the birth of the baby and the hormones after birth.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.

Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
