Foot Grows in Pregnancy? Myth or truth?

Index

Throughout pregnancy, many doubts surround women, as well as the myths that have been with us since ancient times. But is everything a myth? One of the main doubts of women is whether the foot grows during pregnancy or is it just an impression due to the swelling?

It is very common for the pregnant woman to notice a big difference in the size of her foot during pregnancy, both in length and width. And we are not talking about swelling, but about the increase in size! Shoes that were comfortable before, just don’t fit anymore. But what really happens?

During pregnancy, due to the large increase in the hormonal flow, the ligaments end up loosening and giving this aspect of a larger or larger foot. So, we can say that yes, the foot actually grows in pregnancy.

Although this history of growing feet is nothing new, it is very normal for women to bring these questions to doctors or look for answers on maternity sites. And the fear of the foot not returning to the size it was before pregnancy?

Does the Foot Return to Normal Size After Pregnancy?

That this growth is normal, ok, we’ve already clarified. But will the size of the foot return after the baby is born? And the answer may leave a little more tense, but in some cases yes and in others no.

Many women get an extra number in their shoes after pregnancy and this becomes definitive. Others soon after the baby is born and the swelling of the body is reduced , everything returns to normal.

Like any change in the body, it causes concern. But of all the changes in the body during the gestational phase, the size of the foot is one of the smallest and which in some cases goes unnoticed.

Another very recurring question is whether the foot will increase in all pregnancies. And since each pregnancy is different from the other , its symptoms and changes are also different. It is difficult to say whether all the facts will happen again, but it can happen.

Changes in the Body After Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a fantastic and unique moment for most women, but with this beautiful phase, there are also changes in the body during and after pregnancy. The body changes so much to adapt to the development and growth of the baby, that how will there be no marks after?

Of course, not all women get the same marks or gain radical changes after pregnancy. Some lucky ones return to their previous body quickly , that is if they are not even more beautiful and satisfied with their body.

Some who had small breasts after pregnancy may be happy with their increase and be able to parade with a more stuffed cleavage. Some thinner end up liking the curves they gain due to pregnancy. But, obviously there are those that are rewarded with a flabby belly, the stretch marks left by the increase in the belly and even the extra pounds that insist on not leaving.

But of all the changes in the body after pregnancy, the one that tops the list of women’s dissatisfactions is the sagging and sagging breast . Some associate the fact with breastfeeding , when in fact it is not quite like that. Breasts in pregnancy tend to increase in size due to the production of breast milk and like everything else in the body at this stage, it tends to “stretch”.

It is natural that when the body begins to return to its normal shape, what “stretched” becomes flaccid. So, regardless of whether or not breastfeeding, this can happen and is also part of the law of gravity, isn’t it? Over the years, the skin becomes even more flaccid and even if you don’t have children or even breastfeed them, eventually your breasts will fall out.

The changes in the body are part of the pregnancy and also of the postpartum as well. In fact, changes in the body, in the mind, in acting, in speaking and in everything in our life are part of it. We are beings in total transition and we can improve, get worse, adjust and try to change at all times.

But if you are so dissatisfied with your body and its changes after pregnancy, look for improvements. Through physical activities, diets and exercises it is possible to regain its shape and achieve a satisfactory body.

In some cases, simply diet and exercise do not resolve the changes generated by the pregnancy. But then, you can think about repairing plastic surgery . Nowadays there is a great facility to resolve small and large imperfections in the body, just look for a specialist you trust.

For those who “conform” and love even those changes caused by such a special moment in their life. Why not enjoy a fuller bra or the new curves, right? The important thing is to always love yourself and remember that each scar and mark generated in pregnancy was for love and to give life to the greatest good of your life.

Stay hydrated, eat well, exercise, love and care for yourself regardless of anything and any changes you have undergone. Motherhood does not only change the body, it also changes the soul and priorities.

My name is Dr. Alexis Hart I am 38 years old, I am the mother of 3 beautiful children! Different ages, different phases 16 years, 12 years and 7 years. In love with motherhood since always, I found it difficult to make my dreams come true, and also some more after I was already a mother.

Since I imagined myself as a mother, in my thoughts everything seemed to be much easier and simpler than it really was, I expected to get pregnant as soon as I wished, but it wasn’t that simple. The first pregnancy was smooth, but my daughter’s birth was very troubled. Joana was born in 2002 with a weight of 2930kg and 45cm, from a very peaceful cesarean delivery but she had already been born with congenital pneumonia due to a broken bag not treated with antibiotics even before delivery.
